China’s Plan to Conquer the Pacific

In just the past few weeks, China has…

Held live-fire drills around Australia, Taiwan, and Vietnam.

Tested new landing barges clearly intended for an amphibious assault on Taiwan.

And demonstrated deep-sea cable cutters that can disable another country’s internet access — a tool no other nation even admits to having.

Indeed, in addition to building its naval fleet into the largest in the world, China is rehearsing a live-firing war with the United States.

It’s also targeting partners in allies with soft power demonstrations.

In February, three Chinese warships sailed around Australia, conducting live-fire drills that alarmed policymakers and caused airlines to divert flights.

A few weeks later, another Chinese ship — a “research” vessel called the Tan Suo Yi Hao — began lurking around Australia’s southern coast.

There, it was observed conducting deep-sea surveillance on Australia’s underwater infrastructure, which includes cables that keep the country connected to the internet.

The vulnerability of undersea cables is a growing concern. Many of the cables are no thicker than a common garden hose.

Last year, two such cables in the Baltic Sea — one connecting Finland and Germany and another connecting Sweden and Lithuania — were damaged just as a Chinese ship passed over them.

And just last week, Taiwan charged a Chinese ship captain with intentionally damaging an undersea cable between Taiwan’s main island and the Penghu Islands.

Taiwan has reported five incidents of sea cable disruptions so far this year, compared with three each in 2024 and 2023.

China has made no secret of this capability.

In fact, it’s actually boasted about its cable-cutter technology, which is compact enough to be deployed on manned and unmanned submarines and sophisticated enough to sever even the world’s most fortified underwater communication and power lines.

This gives China the ability to cut lines at depths of more than 13,000 feet — twice the maximum operational range of existing subsea communication infrastructure.

And the fact that China is demonstrating this capability in conjunction with naval war games is alarming.

These incursions — which have also targeted Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, the Philippines, as well as Taiwan on a routine basis — have also grown more frequent and more threatening as China has rapidly expanded its navy.

China now has the world’s largest navy, with more than 400 ships.

"China has been rapidly building up military capabilities while intensifying its activities in the East China Sea, where the waters surrounding the Senkaku Islands are, as well as in the Pacific," a recent Japanese defense analysis read.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte also warned about China’s advances in a recent visit to the Japanese naval port of Yokosuka.

“China is supporting Russia's efforts,” Rutte said. “China is building up its armed forces, including its navy, at a rapid pace. We cannot be naive, and we really have to work together, assess what is happening.”

This is why the Trump administration has been so laser-focused on China.

Trump recognizes the threat the country poses — and he’s working to counter it with a trillion-dollar defense budget and a renewed focus on advanced technology.

I’m talking about autonomous drone swarms, iPad airstrikes, cyborg soldiers, robot wingmen, impenetrable missile shields, and more.

It’s all part of Donald Trump’s "AI Victory Plan."

And the companies behind these endeavors are already raking in piles of cash.
