Maryland Lawmaker Opposes Liberty, Supports War

The good news is that the good people of Washington D.C. can now enjoy a delicious pot brownie without being hauled off to jail. On Tuesday, D.C. voters overwhelmingly backed an initiative allowing cannabis to be consumed and grown in the nation’s capital.

The bad news, however, is this guy is trying to ruin it for everybody.

harris

This is Maryland representative Any Harris, and he insists that legalizing marijuana would threaten the health and safety of D.C. residents.

Apparently, Harris is concerned about the health and safety of the public. So admirable! And such a crock of shit.

Legalize it!

While the congressman warns of health and safety concerns associated with legalizing marijuana, Harris has happily taken huge “donations” from sectors that could also be argued as threatening to the health and safety of citizens.

  • $199,579 from the agribusiness sector – because industrialized agriculture, pesticides, GMOs, and water pollution is so good for public health.
  • $42,769 from the defense sector– because war is so good for public health.
  • $230,860 from the energy and natural resources sector – because the combustion of fossil fuels is so good for public health.

It’s also worth noting that Harris is a Maryland lawmaker. Why he’s dipping his talons into the neighboring district’s business is questionable.

He claims it’s because he wants to save the kids from a gateway drug in Washington. But the truth is, because D.C. is not a state, and Congress can intervene on these types of issues, it’s the only place outside of Maryland where he can directly influence marijuana legislation and continue to facilitate the war on drugs. Which, as you know, has been one of the biggest acts of tyranny against the American people.

Of course, the truth is all drugs, not just marijuana, should be legalized. And in the absence of such a common-sense policy we can only look forward to more mass incarcerations of non-violent criminals, more drug violence, and more tax payer dollars getting funneled into private prison companies who regularly service their congressional masters at D.C. rest stops along the beltway.

I’m not exactly sure why Andy Harris is so hell bent on supporting the war on drugs, but the fact is, the war on drugs is unconstitutional. And since Harris took an oath to support and defend the constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, he is clearly in violation of his oath, and therefor should be fired immediately.
